Welcome to my adventure

Thanks for checking out my blog. I have worked in the health and wellness business for over 30 years but as they say in the movie trailers "this time it's personal". I need a wellness makeover. I am 56 years old and have several chronic health problems including psoriatic arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and Barrett's esophagus, all of which have been well managed. Lately though I have realized my eating is awful, my body composition is deteriorating my physical activity is
sporadic and mostly aerobic and my relaxation and sleep are terrible. I don't feel as well as I want to! So between now and July 2nd I will follow Canada's Food Guide and Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines (as I have advocated to hundreds, maybe thousands of clients over the years), and will document the adventure here. Not because I think there is a burning desire on anyone's behalf to read it... I just need a way to "seal the deal". Here's to Feeling Good!

Day 19...

I am fascinated and at the same time appalled at how easily things go off the rails.  There are a few days of motivation, high spirits and drive but when you get in the day to day trenches it seems to dissolve into rationale, weakness and lack of commitment.  There is a quote somewhere that says it is about how often you fall but how often you get up.  Well, I fell again... eating deteriorated into almost exactly where I was before I started this.  I would like to say how bad it felt but it didn't, it felt good.  The bad food tasted good, the internal battle between what I know to be right and what feels good was lost.  But the war won't be.  I will get back up and start again.   Score for today 2/10 Eating 6/10 exercise 4/10 R&R and 4/10 work and learning.  Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again!
